Scalar Fields in the Universe
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics
Abstract
The project will study various situations where the cosmological evolution of scalar fields is of special theoretical interest and of observational importance. This will include cosmological constraints on the variation of traditinal constants of physics if they are promoted to become possible time-varying scalar fields. It will also include a more detailed investigation of the recent discovery of finite-time singularities in the cosmological evolution of simple scalar fields and the role of scalar fields in the study of dark energy.
