Abstract
Developing a robust testing methodology to ensure cyber security and safety in vehicles with connected infrastructure and other road users
While efforts have been made to customise cyber security testing methodologies for particular application areas in the domains of industrial control or information systems, no standard has yet emerged which considers aspects of both. This is significant to the automotive application since vehicles combine both physical actuation and information processing. As an investigation into the state-of-the-art in automotive cyber testing this project will address questions including:
How are existing security testing methodologies customised for a specific context e.g. banking
To what extent are they suitable for the automotive industry and how might they be applied there?
How does cyber testing relate to vehicle safety?
Which are the appropriate modeling techniques to identify the key components and attack surfaces to analyse for cyber security and resilience?
The project addresses Themes of the Digital Economy, ICT and Global Uncertainties. Most specifically it will contribute in the area of ICT networks and distributed systems
