Abstract
Application of low THz radar , which has the features of fast processing and high resolution, to automotive radar for driverless vehicles.
Investigations into the capabilities of and improvements to sub-THz radar systems for use in 3D mapping in the context of autonomous vehicles, working both in the radar team, and with groups performing similar research into established LiDAR systems. Research will focus on high resolution terrain profile maps and height assessment, radar backscatter models, terrain coherence, unambiguous phase unwrapping and height estimation by direction of arrival, optimization of the system for specific applications and the calibration of receivers.
