SSA - Functional analysis of a novel, essential vaccine component of Staphylococcus aureus
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Sheffield
Department Name: Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
Abstract
Absynth is developing a novel vaccine against the antimicrobial resistant pathogen Staphylococcus aureus based on essential protein antigens. The Foster lab has shown that one of these is required for cell division. The project will aim to analyse the molecular role of cell division components and to assess important domains as vaccinogens. The project will combine protein chemistry, super resolution microscopy and in vivo studies in
order to determine molecular activity and to therefore design specific assay/s for vaccine batch release validation.
