Development of techniques to determine mechanical and high strain rate properties of metals
Lead Research Organisation:
Imperial College London
Department Name: Mechanical Engineering
Abstract
To evaluate mechanical properties of metals (e.g. Copper, Stainless Steel, Al alloys, Ti 6Al14V alloy and TaW) at high strain rates and over a range of temperatures. This would require a special-to-purpose miniaturised Hopkinson bar to be developed for AWE which can make these stress-strain measurements at high rate (10^4 -10^5 s -1) in a semi-automated way.
