Development of advanced materials solutions for quantum metrology
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Birmingham
Department Name: School of Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
The programme investigates the development of metallic functional materials that will be applied in quantum metrology, focusing on the demands for customised magnetic shielding behaviour, light-weighting, and temperature stability. This involves the use of advanced processing techniques, including metal 3D printing (selective laser melting), combined with advanced characterisation of the structural and functional properties. The project will focus on developing functional designs, utilising the flexibility of metal 3D printing.
