Non-supersymmetric strings

Abstract
Recent work has brought to light a class of non-supersymmetric strings that form a basis for stable constructions that do not suffer from one-loop dilation tadpoles. The aim of the project is to extend and understand such constructions in the context of other, possibly dual, systems. The hope is that these systems would allow a geometric interpretation of the unusual stability of these theories. This could prove to be a powerful tool, for example enabling an interpretation beyond one-loop and possibly non-perturbatively, and greatly opening up the possibilities for non-supersymmetric string phenomenology.
