Fluids in the Martian Crust; Mars Science Laboratory and ExoMars
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Leicester
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
The PhD involves preparation for and analysis of data from the CaSSIS (Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System) instrument from ExoMars TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter). This will be done to help characterise the possible landing sites for the ExoMars rover, as well to characterise water-rock reaction in the martian crust.
The PhD also involves testing of the SPLIT (Small Planetary Linear Impulse Tool) prototype, analysing its effectiveness on various different samples representative of those found on Mars as well as those found on icy moons such as Europa or Enceladus
