Abstract
This PhD project seeks to highlight the importance of construction of troubled spaces, as areas interested by today's policy, practice and literature concerning crime. Despite existing literature remarking on the need for better analysis of a spatial understanding of crime, and the availability of literature discussing the practicalities of methodological solutions, no empirical study to date has engaged with how space is constructed. I propose to do this from a variety of different perspectives, to provide policy-worthy solutions to how troubled spaces impact the production of culture, power and social dynamics in our societies.
