Abstract
The proposed project aims to consider how trade union activists organise use social media, how they are influenced by surveillance and monitoring techniques and, importantly, how their use strategies to effectively communicate their messages across a range of news media.
Drawing on ethnographic, interviews and content analysis, Catherine will research the communication strategies of trade union activists, with a special focus will be given to the sharing and discussing of news articles and media representation.
It is an original and ambitious project, and represents an important contribution to the field of journalism studies.
