Abstract
Eigen Analysis in General Curvilinear Coordinates is a new method for propagation of acoustic waves pioneered by Prof. Wilson. The method extends and supercedes a range of previous work on eigen analysis in this application domain. It has been successfully demonstrated on some generic propagation problems, but is still in its infancy.
This project will provide a firm foundation for the method by
1. Addressing areas (such as mode identification and sorting, matrix condition number, non-spectral derivative matrices) to identify limitations of the current routines and improve them where necessary.
2. Broadening the domain of application (for instance to turbomachinery blade response modelling).
3. Validating the method against existing high fidelity computational aeroacoustics methods.
