Abstract
Aims
1) To explore the relationships between global rises in consumerism, environmental degradation, and mental illness.
2) To determine the degree to which neoliberal ideology is responsible for these rises.
3) To evaluate policies that aim to limit consumerism, including 'Degrowth' (Meadows 1992) and 'Doughnut Economics' (Raworth 2017), in relation to their potential to improve population-level mental health.
