Abstract
The Dark Energy Survey Instrument (DESI) galaxy surveys
will produce the most extensive maps of the galaxy distribution in the
local Universe. Statistical analysis of the large scale structure
traced out by these galaxies will be used to measure the parameters of
our cosmological model including the properties of dark energy.
However ahead of data analysis we need large sets of simulated catalogues
to quantify systematic errors and where necessary develop mitigation
techniques. This project will produce, test and refine the simulations
required to perform this program. It will also use these simulations to
validate existing analytic clustering models and where necessary
improve the models to reduce the systematic errors that would
otherwise affect the inference of cosmological parameters.
