Description | ASB-STFC Summer School 2020 - Introductory Astrobiology |
Form Of Engagement Activity | Participation in an activity, workshop or similar |
Part Of Official Scheme? | No |
Geographic Reach | International |
Primary Audience | Postgraduate students |
Results and Impact | I was on the organisation committee for the Introductory to Astrobiology summer school hosted by AstrobiologyOU, Open University virtually on Teams. I was a session facilitator & convenor and organised sessions such as Student Flash Talks and a PhD Q&A panel to give participants the opportunity to ask past PhD students for advice about completing a PhD and wider career. I had input into the organisation of all parts of the workshop including coordinating the Teams channels, communication with participants, post-workshop feedback and facilitating science and technical skill sessions during the workshop. This provided extensive experience in being on an organisation committee and organising and running a virtual workshop for undergraduate/postgraduate level students. Parts of this workshop was also broadcast online to the general public, opened up to more than 100 viewers internationally. |
