Abstract
My project will be focused on the CGM (circumgalactic medium) of galaxies using the recent Simba simulations. First I will characterise the CGM by making and analysing synthetic absorption spectra of the simulated galaxies and compare this to observations. Then I will try a machine learning approach to understand the connection between the absorption features and the physical conditions of the CGM, which are known for a simulation. Potentially I can then apply this knowledge to other simulations and make predictions for upcoming observations.
