Abstract
Band structure modelling for surface states in 3D topological insulator nano-structures. The project will build on previous
work in the field as well as by the student during his research year in the group to make discoveries about the emergence
of electronic surface states in nanowires, junctions, and quantum dots which are grown and fabricated by our
experimental partners in Latvia university and Chalmers university. The main aim is to develop realistic computer models
which can be used in this field to characterise the materials electronically and optically and further design and build
functional devices for quantum metrological and quantum computing
