Abstract
The aims of the PhD are to understand the needs of sibling kinship carers and identify pathways to improving their outcomes. Whilst there is a small but growing body of research into kinships carers, few have previously looked at the role of sibling kinship carers. A mixed methods approach with census data being used to explore demographic characteristics of sibling foster care, and semi-structured interviews providing an insight into the experiences of this under researched population. The research will be underpinned by a critical-realist approach that seeks to identify context-mechanism-outcome configurations.
