Neuromorphic Computing with Nanomagnets
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Sheffield
Department Name: Materials Science and Engineering
Abstract
The PhD project will focus on how we can use the unique properties of nanoscale magnetic materials to create "neuromorphic" computational devices - i.e. those with form and/or function that mimics that of the human brain. Creating such devices is expected to greatly enhance the capability and availability of artificial intelligence, both of which are currently limited by the constraints of conventional computer chip designs. The project will combine modelling and experimental work, to pioneer new approaches to creating neuromorphic devices.
