Cell and Process Engineering for Recombinant Antibody Production
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Sheffield
Department Name: Chemical & Biological Engineering
Abstract
A vast expansion in the number of recombinant protein therapeutics in development, with a diversification in their molecular architecture necessitates the development of cell and process engineering technologies that can both rapidly generate product and improve manufacturability. This project will harness significant expertise at both The University of Sheffield and Absolute Antibody Ltd. to create new transient bioproduction systems for cost-effective and scalable production of diverse recombinant proteins in mammalian cells. Core, novel technological innovation will occur at Sheffield and then be translated into commercial practice at Absolute Antibody (https://absoluteantibody.com). This project therefore represents an excellent opportunity for a postgraduate student to receive training in world-leading R&D for biomanufacturing with the opportunity to reduce this to core commercial practice in a rapidly expanding SME based in the N8 region.
