Tundra shrub growth in response to micro-site conditions across multiple spatial scales
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Geosciences
Abstract
This PhD project will examine the spatial heterogeneity of shrub growth in Arctic tundra ecosystems using a novel combination of community-based dendroecology fieldwork, and the spatial analysis of remotely-sensed drone data.

Description | 1) The microenvironmental controls of decomposition in tundra ecosystems are highly scale dependent. 2) Nutrient addition from animal husbandry waste management practises are contributing to significant tundra greening. |
Exploitation Route | The animal husbandry research is being presented to the governor of Svalbard to promote more sustainable waste management practises. |
