Novel Electrode Materials for Organic Electrosynthesis
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Southampton
Department Name: Sch of Chemistry
Abstract
This project aims to understand the role of electrode structure and composition on electrochemistry to allow the design of more efficient electrochemical reactors for more sustainable fine chemicals synthesis. Initial work will focus on the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol derivatives, gaining understanding of functional group tolerance for different electrodes. Later in the project other electrochemical oxidations and reductions will be introduced. The reactions' efficacy will be compared with conventional chemical approaches for selected examples of industrially relevant targets.
