Next generation battery electrodes: a metrological approach to processing
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Birmingham
Department Name: Chemical Engineering
Abstract
The inks used to coat battery substrates to form electrodes have a complex chemistry and microstructure. As new generations of materials are developed, new approaches to scale up and manufacture of these materials are required which have a proper physical and chemical foundation and rely less on heuristics and experiential methodologies. This project will explore physics and machine learning based approaches to develop process guidelines and design approaches for manufacture.
