In-operando fibre-Raman sensors for Li-ion battery chemistry
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
This project will develop embedded fibre-optic Raman probes that can be used for in-operando monitoring of chemical processes within Li:ion batteries. The probes are based on hollow-core optical fibres that avoid the large silica-Raman background that limits the use of conventional optical fibres in Raman spectroscopy. The project will investigate optimizing and automating Raman analysis of the electrolyte liquid, and potential signal enhancements by utilising optical and plasmonic phenomena.
