Abstract
Extreme load conditions for gear power transmissions, rolling contact bearings and other heavily loaded contact pairs are becoming significantly more common in modern engineering devices. For this reason, as good as possible modelling of phenomena present in dynamically loaded devices is desirable. The ultimate objective of this project is to create a numerical model capable of predicting long-term surface wear in situations of highly loaded lubricated mixed mode contact and explore its sensitivity to surface roughness, load parameters and lubricant composition.
