Department Name: Sch of Sociology and Social Policy
Abstract
The aims of the research are 1. To map how legal frameworks currently frame corporate environmental harms both domestically and internationally. 2. To map both domestic and international enforcement practices and capacities that implement those frameworks.
3. To map extra-legal processes of accountability and how these mechanisms influence
the behaviour of executives and shareholders. The over-arching objective is to use those mapping exercises to critically explore how a new offence of corporate ecocide might be most effectively implemented.
