Shapeshifting Materials
Lead Research Organisation:
Durham University
Department Name: Chemistry
Abstract
This PhD project investigates molecules that undergo 'shapeshifting' rearrangements that allow their covalent connectivities to adapt to their enviroment. During the PhD, we will synthesise and analyse soft materials, built around shapeshifting molecular motifs, discovering the effects shapeshifting rearrangements have on phase behaviour and fluid dynamics, as well as the impact of environmental factors on shapeshifting equilibria.
