Uncovering a Pathway for Sustainable Strip Steel Production
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Warwick
Department Name: WMG
Abstract
Tata Steel UK is rapidly investing in knowledge development and understanding to allow their production of flat (strip) steel products to be world leading in its delivery of responsible quality material. This aim for this project is to help achieve both a step-change to the current recycling of steel internationally, and to the future production capabilities within Tata Steel UK. This project will involve high temperature experimentation to understand the mechanisms and quality of reclaimed raw materials for high value steel product production, followed by the application of advanced characterization techniques such as; X-ray computed tomography; real-time visualization/measurement tools; and mechanical performance testing to assess the quality of material produced.
