Using metacognition to improve student learning in Undergraduate Computer Science
Lead Research Organisation:
Newcastle University
Department Name: Sch of Computing
Abstract
This research will aid the understanding that students have about their own learning. This should help to improve a student's ability to transfer the skills they learn from one module to another, as well as in everyday life. This should also help teachers design curricula, assessment and modules and recognise themselves the skills in modules. The tool that I produce will be there for students who want to have a deeper understanding of their learning and an aid for those students when it comes to interviews and CVs. This tool could be also be used in any discipline and will not just be relevant to a Computer Science environment. I hope to distribute my work to other Higher Education practitioners not just at Newcastle University. This research should also contribute to a greater understanding of students learning for both students and teachers.
