Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description | I have investigated several topical materials in which different kinds of superstructures play a key role in determining their physical behaviour. The main findings were: 1. Detection of charge stripes in layered cobaltates, which provides and understanding of their magnetic spectrum and has implications for the physics of the copper oxide superconductors. 2. Discovery of magnetic and structural superstructures in an Fe-based superconductor (CsFe2Se2) and their effect on physical properties. 3. Uncovered importance of divacancy superstructures and rattling modes in the thermoelectric properties of NaxCoO2. 4. Detection of electromagnon modes in the multiferroic phase of copper oxide. 5. Prepared substrates for the epitaxial thin film growth of spin ice materials. + many other detailed results. |
