Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description | We have provided the first in-depth characterisation of gelatine based head phantoms, showing their representativeness compared to electrical and biological models, and how their performance varies over time. We have also created an electroencephalograph (EEG) unit that measures motion, allowing data driven motion artefact removal approaches to be applied for the first time. We have now demonstrated sweat sensing in the lab, and are looking to have this operating on a mobile platform before the end of the award. We have also demonstrated sweat sensing using our developed approaches. This technology works well "on the bench" and we are now seeking to perform some on-person tests to demonstrate performance. Further, this sensing is based upon Carbon inks, and has allowed us to perform some initial investigations into biodegradable electronics, removing Silver and similar materials used in current approaches. |
Exploitation Route | Based upon our brain sensing work PI Casson was a contributor to the InnovateUK "deep dive" on neurotechnologies for UK industry, presented Royce capabilities for bioelectronics to the InnovateUK Knowledge Transfer Network, neurotechnologies network, and presented at UKRI Materials Research Exchange 2020 together with CPI on accelerating the translation of materials research. Our work has been leveraged to secure follow on funds looking at embedding cortisol sensing using similar approaches. Cortisol is a stress hormone, and we have a project investigating "wearables for carers" and how support may be improved. |

Title | ECG, EEG and IMU data for local motion artefact removal |
Description | ECG and EEG data collected from a single participant using our custom device with inertial measurement units (IMUs) placed on each electrode, to enable recording of local motion activity (accelerometer and gyroscope) during electrophysiological recordings. This is to enable improved motion artefact removal. Please see paper for description of the device, placement of the electrodes and testing procedure. Data is in CSV format, with a sample rate of 220 Hz.If using this data please cite:C. Beach, M. Li, E. Balaban, and A. J.
