Results and Impact | The research team disseminated the findings of the Smoke Free Homes Trial to 8 smokers' panel members. All panel members expressed an interest in the use of air monitoring as an aid to support making homes smoke free. Panel members were also asked to discuss the content of a new intervention that forms part of the Hospital to Home Trial aimed at helping patients in Nottingham City Hospital, who are smokers and have abstained from smoking during their period of inpatient stay, continue with their quit attempt after discharge from hospital. The panel thought that the proposed intervention (comprising, Home visits, tailored support and nicotine replacement therapies) would be useful and welcome to patients. The panel suggested that stop smoking advice could be initiated in hospital and then carried on via outpatient clinics. The University will consider this in future research projects. |
