Learning Futures: Education, Technology and Social Change
Description | We have discovered that dispositions toward the future are framed by the assumptions people operate with relating to two axes: their perception of their own agency (capacity to effect change in the future) and their perception of their knowledge of the future (whether the future is seen as knowable or uncertain). Encouraging individuals and groups to reflect on these assumptions provides a foundation for more agile 'uses' of the future in planning and decision making. |
Exploitation Route | The resources designed to support reflection on the relationship between education and the future are widely available and already being used by educators in the UK and around the world. These resources have recently (2016) been included in a set of guidance for teachers in Italy and in Canada. They were also used in training for school leaders, union leaders, academics, college leaders in events from 2012 - the present. |
