Description | We successfully maintained two ocean gliders at a time series site in the North Atlantic for one year, documenting in unprecedented detail the temporal and high-resolution spatial scale variability and dynamical processes. We investigated sub mesoscale processes revealed by the glider data. We evaluated several different mixed layer models by comparison with the year long glider data set. |
Exploitation Route | Useful for navy and weather forecasting. |
Sectors | Aerospace, Defence and Marine,Environment |
Description | Temperature and salinity data recorded and transmitted in real time were used by the US Navy for assimilation into their real time forecasting models, and also by the UK Met Office for assimilation into their weather forecasting models. |
