Description We made great progress in the development in the UK deliverables for the ATLAS ITk Upgrade.

The main contributions of the Oxford group include:
1. Construction of Prototype modules for the ITk Pixels
2. Production QA/QC procedures developed
3. Production assembly tooling and procedures completed for pre-production
4. CAD model of stave core geometry and all parts drawings
5. Stave core assembly & parts manufacture tooling
6. Stave core thermo-mechanical testing network
7. Manufacture & testing of staves
8. Stave Manufacture and Testing Plan
9. Preparations completed for production of cores
10.Production of final prototype cores
11. Modules mounted on first final prototype stave
12. Strip barrel global structure design (incl. interlinks)

These findings will be the foundation of the ITk construction.
Exploitation Route Our finding will benefit the development of future detector operating in hadron colliders and for medical applications

Geographic Reach Regional
Primary Audience Public/other audiences
Results and Impact 100 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ATTENDED A TALK ON THE LATEST RESULTS IN PARTICLE PHYSICS AND COSMOLOGY AND HOW THIS EXITING BIG SCIENCE COMPARES TO THE SCICE FOUND IN STAR WARS AND STAR TREK. THE TALK WAS PART OF OXFORD COMIC CON 2017 AND THE ORGANZIWER REPORTED THE TALKED SPARKED MANY QUESTIONS AND DISCUSIOSN AFTREWARD AND GAVE THE AUDIENCE A GREATER APPRECIATION OF SCIENCE FACT OVER SCIENCE FICTION.

Primary Audience Public/other audiences
Results and Impact A talk on the status of cosmology and particle physics focusing on LSST and the LHC. The audience was 150 members of the general public spanning all age ranges. There was extensive interaction with the audience after the talk and some members of the audience carried on the dialogue via email in the days after the talk. I have been invited to give a repeat of the talk at the 2017 event.
