Description | This grant was for 18 months of a multi-year programme to upgrade the trigger system for the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, i.e. the system which identifies when a potentially interesting collision may have occurred and determines when to read out the detector. During this period we made progress towards the design of the system, leading towards a technical design report and a subsequent bid for construction funding. |
Exploitation Route | The developments are specific to the ATLAS experiment. They have led to the design of an international project to upgrade the experiment, essential for the physics programme of the Large Hadron Collider. |
