Results and Impact | During the evenings before going to observe using telescopes at Mauna Kea summit, I visited the visitors centre and was involved in chats with the general public with the aid of telescopes which had been set up. This work was international and highlights the reputation and role of astronomy and physics in the UK. |

Results and Impact | Accepted to publish in Nature and featured in New Scientist following the discovery that Saturn is rained upon by water derived from its ring system. The coverage of this research was international/national/local to the general public in the following ways: It was featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Hawai'i Tribune Herald (front page) and a BBC Leicester radio interview as well as dozens of science news websites and countless blogs/social media. The work was also showcased at governmental level as a "science nugget" at NASA HQ at a funding-related conference in Washington D.C. Later, I gave a local talk at Stratford upon Avon Astronomical Society on this discovery, to amateur astronomer members of the public. (2013-2014) |
