Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.
Planned Impact
As per submission from the lead institute, Cambridge.

Implementation of a local principal curves algorithm for neutrino interaction reconstruction in a liquid argon volume

Description | This award funded an R&D programme that investigated the reconstruction of neutrino interactions, via automatic software algoirithms, inside massive liquid argon Time Project Chambers(TPC). The conclusions of this study laid the foundations for the subsequent award to Warwick (in 2018) to play a lead role in the development and deliver of an optimal reconstruction solution for the LBNF/DUNE project. |
Exploitation Route | The outcomes were a crucial stepping stone to the task of providing an optimised reconstruction solution for the LBNF/DUNE project (the world's largest liquid argon TPC ever built with very significant UK involvement). |

Description | Talk at British Science Festival 2019 held at the University of Warwick |
Form Of Engagement Activity | A talk or presentation |
Part Of Official Scheme? | No |
Geographic Reach | National |
Primary Audience | Public/other audiences |
Results and Impact | A talk for a general audience on the physics of neutrinos with a strong link to the activities at Warwick. Generated a large amount of interest across a wide range of age groups. Led to new schools applying to join our annual Particle Physics Masterclass event. |

Description | Warwick Particle Physics Masterclass |
Form Of Engagement Activity | Participation in an open day or visit at my research institution |
Part Of Official Scheme? | Yes |
Geographic Reach | Regional |
Primary Audience | Schools |
Results and Impact | 50-60 Warwickshire school children attended and their teachers. The feedback we receive from Masterclass days are always very positive i.e. we are clearly inspiring students with a scientific mind to pursue particle physics further. |
