Technical Design Report for the ATLAS Inner Tracker Strip Detector
Description | This grant was for funding of a researcher and a technician to support work towards the development of an upgraded tracking detector for the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. In this period we have developed techniques and equipment for dosimetry and radiation testing of detectors and readout chips to work in the high-radiation enviroment of the tracking detector and applied them to prototype detectors. |
Exploitation Route | Birmingham's radiation testing facilities are becoming an important resource in the international programme to develop an upgrade for the ATLAS tracking detector, which will be essential to meet the physics goals of the Large Hadron Collider programme. Sensor technologies which are being investigated here have possible medical applications. |
