Hyper-K: Pre-Construction Phase
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Warwick
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.
Planned Impact

Description | A light injection system was developed that can calibrate the water properties and PMT gain in a large water Cherenkov detector such as Hyper-K. This grant enabled the development of a diffuser system (D4.2.1) and the eventual deployment (and subsequent data analysis) of a prototype system in Super-K (D4.4.1). |
Exploitation Route | The outcome of this funding has been to put the research team in a position to propose a calibration system for the major, next-generation, neutrino oscillation experiment, Hyper-K. |

Description | Warwick Particle Physics Masterclass |
Form Of Engagement Activity | Participation in an open day or visit at my research institution |
Part Of Official Scheme? | Yes |
Geographic Reach | Regional |
Primary Audience | Schools |
Results and Impact | 50-60 Warwickshire school children attended and their teachers. The feedback we receive from Masterclass days are always very positive i.e. we are clearly inspiring students with a scientific mind to pursue particle physics further. |
