Abstract
The WASP survey has discovered hundreds of solar-type stars with low mass stellar companions (M-dwarfs) as a by-product of its highly successful search for transiting exoplanet systems. Extensive spectroscopic follow-up of these objects has been obtained by our collaborators. The aim of the project is to use these data and other follow-up observations to study the properties of low mass stars. This first task in the project will be to develop an automated method to determine the properties of the solar-type star from its spectrum using wavelets to optimise the information that can be extracted from the spectra.
