Abstract
The proposed project will study adaptability and resilience of Antarctic fish populations. This project will perform a detailed analysis of the genomes of several Antarctic fish species, in order to assess their vulnerability to future climate change.
The project is not only of scientific and environmental importance, it also has significant economic implications since some of these species are vital for
fisheries in the Southern Ocean.
Although the project is biology-themed, the main skills required are actually in applied mathematics and computation, since most of the project will involve
analyzing large data sets using mathematical and computational methods.

Title | Metabolic models of Antarctic organisms |
Description | We model metabolism of Antarctic organisms using multilayer networks, constructed from analysis of genetic data provided by British Antarctic Survey. |
Type Of Material | Computer model/algorithm |
Year Produced | 2019 |
Provided To Others? | No |
Impact | These metabolic models will help to assess the impact of climate change on Antarctic organisms (ie. the effects that warming of the polar regions will have on their metabolism). |
Title | Computational Tools for Metabolic Modeling and Gene Duplication Analysis |
Description | The software uses genetic data to construct metabolic models of Antarctic organisms, as well as analysing gene duplications occurring in the genome. |
Type Of Technology | Software |
Year Produced | 2019 |
Impact | The software will allow modeling of the effect of environmental changes on Antarctic organisms (ie. what effects the warming of the polar regions will have on their metabolism). |
