String Theory and Integrability
Lead Research Organisation:
Swansea University
Department Name: College of Science
Abstract
The project will investigate the integrability of string theory in
special background geometries from the point of view of the world sheet.
This will involve understanding how the string world sheet theory can be
deformed whilst maintaining integrability. The project will consider how
to find the classical and quantum states of the deformed theories and
how to relate the quantum S-matrix to the semi-classical scattering of
soliton/magnon states. In the longer term, the project will consider the
quantization of the string world sheet theories.
