Computational Homology of Astrophysical Flows

Lead Research Organisation: Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Astronomy Unit

Abstract

Computational homology is a new area of research that combines the power of homology, a branch of topology, and algorithms. It

is a powerful way to study high-dimensional, heterogeneous data directly via geometric structures, rather than just through proxies such as statistical moments and power spectra. This project will

use this new methodology to analyse multidimensional data from high-resolution astrophysical flow simulations involving vortices

and turbulence, with and without magnetic fields.
