Optical fibre transitions for astrophotonics
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Bath
Department Name: Physics
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to design fibres to be made into photonic devices, fabricate these fibres, and post-process the fibres by tapering them to produce all-fibre photonic lanterns for use in Astrophotonic and Telecommunication applications.
The first project is to make mode multiplexers from photonic lanterns, which will be prepared by tapering a multicore fibre with dissimilar cores.
