Neutrino Physics with MicroBooNE

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The project has two main aspects. Firstly, the development of advanced reconstruction software and new techniques for the automatic reconstruction of the neutrino interactions in the MicroBooNE detector resulting in final states with electromagnetic showers. The main focus will be on separating possible electron neutrino interactions from the main backgrounds with electromagnetic showers from photons. The second aspect is applying these optimised reconstruction techniques to study the excess of events with electromagnetic showers, observed by the MiniBooNE collaboration.
