Abstract
The PhD project investigates how to visualise dynamic information in a way that is scalable to long time series. Much of related work has focused on visualising graphs/networks in a way that the resultant visualisations are scalable in terms of the number of nodes and edges. However, a dynamic graph with a large number of timeslices poses unique visualisation challenges. We also look at other forms of data, beyond networks, that have long time series that could benefit from this approach.
In addition to creating novel visualisation methods, we are looking at ways for placing these visualisations on large displays. Large displays have the advantage that there are more pixels to place the data at multiple points in time on the screen simultaneously for effective visualisation.
The project is in the area of Graphics and Visualisation.
