People bereaved by suicide and support from their family and friends

Abstract
Through qualitative interviews, this project will explore the informal support offered by close friends and family to those who have been bereaved by suicide. This data will inform the development of guidance as to the best practice for supporting inviduals who have been bereaved.

Results and Impact | 60 volunteers of the Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide attended their Annual General Meeting and listened to a talk I gave about the importance and current progress of suicide bereavement research, followed by a Q&A session. Attendees were a mix of people who were interested in/ skeptical about the impact of research. Many reported relatively low knowledge of research in the area prior to the talk. |
