Abstract
Blockchains, also known as distributed ledgers, provide decentralised tamper-free registers in environments where trust may be lacking. This PhD is investigating the use of blockchain technology to decentralise and make more transparent each step of the scientific publishing workflow. By using blockchain-backed smart contracts, this work analyses a subset of social interactions for scholarly publication, and evaluates the associated performance and cost implications.
