Abstract

Colombia's educational ecology is marked by two defining policies: Colombia Bilingue (CB), the national bilingualism programme: and Catedra para la paz (CP), new cross curricular, peace-education legislation. Existing research criticises the neoliberal and colonial framing of ELT practices in Colombia, therefore, given the objective of the CP of creating a 'culture of peace', the need to question the 'patterns of power' within the discursive practices of ELT in Colombia takes on a new importance.
