Abstract
The project will focus on the development of molecular handcuffs as models for multilayer materials. Through the synthesis of handcuff structures, which organise molecular species in a dimeric arrangement, it is possible to establish the interplay of interactions between the two molecules, providing insight into their electronic and optical properties. We will then probe how these model compounds serve as mimics for bilayer and multilayer arrangements on surfaces, providing insight into photovoltaic devices.
